From the beautiful Vogelpark to the mushroom museum and hiking trails, there are interesting things to do in Marlow any day.
In addition, Marlow is one of the few places in Germany where the party never ends. Whether you’re celebrating your best friend’s bachelor’s or hen party, or even their birthday, Marlow can be a great option.

We used to beg our parents to take us to the park all the time when we were kids. Weekends were fun because they meant going to the park in the neighborhood to hop around and play.
However, as we get older and our obligations increase, we become enslaved to our chairs and end up spending hours in a pigeonhole. We lose touch with nature and can become easily irritated.
But, a trip to Marlow, Germany can help rekindle all the beautiful childhood memories in a torrent. The parks here are amazing, the walking trails and even the people and culture make it worth your while. 1. A Day Out at the Vogelpark Park
If nature is your first love and you like to think outside the box, you can tour this park and enjoy the little things in life. The park features ample parking right in front of the entrance, and you don’t have to pay a penny for the parking.
The first thing that will catch your eyes here is the park’s size – it’s enormous reaching around 54 cares. This park is famous for its large variety of all types of birds that make the place a wonder to visit.
Even more interesting are the cages where you can enter, and the birds fly over you – they are not shy and you can even feed them. Your little ones will also have beautiful playgrounds where they can hop and jump and have fun.
Everything here is strategically planned. You can tour the park in the heart of Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania by yourself, or take the pathway that runs the entire length of the park.
The entrance fee for adults is 10 EUR, whereas kids part with only 5 EUR. Children below two years of age access the park at no charge. And if you carry your food, you will end up having a fantastic day at a very affordable rate. You may have visited many parks, whether in Germany or Netherlands, but I bet this Park in Marlow is one of the best.
It is considerably new, and its design is second to none. Almost all enclosures imitate the natural environment of all birds, particularly the tidal zone. These birds receive top-notch care and are always at ease.
The park is immaculately maintained, with spacious, clean enclosures and many direct animal/bird touch, education, and entertainment opportunities. From pigeons to bald eagles, there are incredible displays to see from all sorts of free-flying birds.
2. Visit Bernstein (Amber Meseum)
The museum is situated close to half an hour’s drive from Rostock city. This amber museum borders a monastery in Ribnitz, and it’s one of the most significant amber exhibitions in Europe.
You’ll find the leading exhibition on the first floor. The presentation is phenomenal, with beautiful magnifying glasses placed in front of items with tiny insects and plants. When you go upstairs, you’ll be able to look closely at how amber may be polished.
Typically, Bernstein means amber in German. You’ll find amber exhibits and a short film showing you how amber is found. There’s also an amber jewelry shop and a museum shop, where you can purchase unique amber jewelry at affordable prices.

3. Tour Jagdschloss Gelbensande
This is an earlier hunting lodge and residence of Duke Friedrich III of Mecklenburg. The magnificent Schloss shows what life was like, three centuries ago.
It is an excellent hideaway in the Mecklenburg forests for history fanatics, and almost all original plans are on display. The interior is under meticulous renovation according to plan. The ground and first floors are open for viewing, while the upper floors are under restoration.
There is a cafe on the premises that serves meals, coffee, and cakes. And, the grounds are used for concerts and events.
When the weather isn’t cooperating with a trip to the beach, this is a great place to spend an afternoon.
4. Take a Walk or Ride a Bike to Meyers Hausstelle in der Rostocker Heide
If you like walking or riding a bike, you can tour Meyers Hausstelle. It’s a beautiful cafe in the middle of the forest. Here, you can enjoy different yummy warm or cold dishes. Everything will be freshly prepared and served on time. Also, different variations of delicious cakes will leave you yearning for more.
One of the best things about this cafe is that it’s appropriate for children. You’ll find different animals which are fun to discover for both children and adults. Since the restaurant is in the middle of the forest, away from the noisy roads, you can relax and let the children play carefree as you take a cold beer.
If you care about eco-friendly products, you’ll be in good hands at Meyers Hausstelle. The spot targets hikers or cyclists who pass by every season.
However, you can organize or make reservations for friends or family celebrations and have an excellent time, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Their homemade cakes are more than addicting.
5. See What Mühlentor, Tribsees is All About
If you are a resilient person in life, I bet you would be interested to see a building that has seen it all, been through a lot, and still stands to tell the story.
This is a town church that dates from the Middle Ages and was first mentioned in 1245.
It is a Brick Gothic building that has been damaged by fire and war numerous times throughout its entire history. It was refurbished in the Neo-Gothic style between 1861 and 1869.
A unique altarpiece from the early 15th century is housed in the church. It depicts the transfiguration as a metaphorical mill run by angels. The ornate altarpiece is made up of 67 sculpted wooden figures that have been painted and covered in gold leaf.
Two gothic gates mark the entrance to this impressive structure. These gates are the Steintor (stone gate) and Mühlentor ( Mill gate). They are dated from the 13th century and were initially part of more extensive fortifications, which have since vanished.

7. Take a Walk to Unteres Recknitztale
For nature lovers, you can never run out of things to do in Marlow. You’ll always find exciting things to fill your day. You can tour Unteres Reckniztale, a 66.9-kilometer loop trail situated close to Ribnitz-Damgarten, Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania, Germany.
It features a big river and is rated as a moderate trail. It may have some hills, more inclinations, and elevation changes. Still, you can manage it if you are moderately active as it’s moderate in difficulty and distance.
Hiking on this trail is an excellent way to maintain your physical fitness. But, it’s not a must you walk the whole course; just twenty minutes is enough to stimulate your creativity and clear your mind.
The landscape you’ll come across when hiking this trail will take your breath away. The route is accessible by foot and will allow you to take delight in the undisturbed natural environment.

8. Go to Boocksee (Beautiful Lake Quiet Location)

9 Take a Trip to Teufelssee bei Thelkow Germany
Lastly on our list of the best things to do in Marlow and surrounding areas, is a tour to Teufelsee bei Thelkow. This is a nature reserve that spans over 2.4 hectares and has its origins in the ice age. It is located in Berlin’s Grunewald, a large forest region to the city’s west.
On the northern shore, the lake is part of the Teufelsfenn nature reserve. The Teufelsberg, built from the rubble and ruins of WW II, is located to the northeast. And, the remains of the US listening station can be seen here.
Swimming is permitted in some regions of lake Teufelssee, although it is part of a nature reserve. A swimming area with a lawn for sunbathing on the Teufelssee’s southern shore is often used as a nudist beach by some locals. A DLRG water rescue station keeps an eye on this section.
Since there is no infrastructure around the lake, those who want to swim should bring their picnic gear. Note: In the Teufelssee, dogs are not permitted to bathe. The Teufelssee is a frozen lake with no outlet. It’s part of the Teufelssee-Pechsee-Barssee-Rinne, an ice-age meltwater pipe. Bitterling is an uncommon fish species that live in the lake.
Groundwater is continually being pumped to the Teufelssee, which has had so little water for years.
Things to Do in Marlow at Night
Marlow may not be a flashy city, but it still has a lot to offer for night owls. In town, take your pick of clubs and low-key bars with friendly staff.
