BÉIS Luggage Review: Are They Worth the Price?

Choosing the right luggage is a big decision if you’re anything like us. While some minimalist travelers get by with a 20-liter backpack that’s 20 years old, most of us are more particular about what we travel with, whether we’re taking road trips, getting on a long-haul flight, or hopping on a regional jet for a weekend away. Thanks to a massive social media influence, BÉIS has been a fast-growing brand, but is it worth the hype and price? After testing the products in this full BÉIS luggage review, let’s find out.

Over the past few years, many luxury luggage brands have emerged to compete with industry giants like Briggs & Riley or Travelpro. BÉIS is one of those newer luggage brands – it was founded in 2018 and quickly got the attention of travelers looking for suitcases, carry-ons, backpacks, and weekend bags. The best BÉIS products stand out in an industry saturated with choices.

BÉIS has options for every type of traveler – short weekend trips, long international vacations, and anything in between. Each item in their luggage line has a slew of features designed to make travel more convenient, more comfortable, and more efficient – but smartly designed and high-quality luggage usually comes with a hefty price tag.

BÉIS has balanced its feature-heavy products with consumer-friendly price points – but do these more affordable products stand up, and are they worth the purchase? Let’s go over a few of our favorite BÉIS travel bags, along with the pros, cons, and special features, so that you can make an informed decision about your next choice in travel bags.

Our Review Approach

We are not a part of the BÉIS influencer marketing program. We are a part of the company’s referral program, that anyone can join regardless of purchasing a product or not. The Company has a separate influencer marketing program we are not a part of, and we were not compensated for this review.

We paid for the products and shipping ourselves to test the quality, durability, and design firsthand to see what all the fuss was about. We may be compensated through online retailers where BÉIS products are sold, but this does not influence our review in any way.

What is BÉIS?

BÉIS Logo

BÉIS is a travel brand based in El Segundo that offers bags and luggage to help you stay organized on the go. Developed by Shay Mitchell of Pretty Little Liars fame, BÉIS products are chic, new, go-to bags designed to make travel easier. We heard so much about it that the ViaTravelers team bought a few of their products to see if it lived up to the hype or was just another Influencer brand.

The line features various sizes and styles, from travel totes and hard-sided suitcases to duffels, backpacks, and even garment cases. The brand prides itself on its modern aesthetic and durable construction, which ensures your belongings stay safe during those unexpected bumps in the road. Plus, its many pockets make organizing your items simple and easy.

Regarding quality and design, BÉIS looks fashionable but also performs. Their durable bags have thoughtful features such as adjustable straps and built-in laptop sleeves. The color selection and sleek design make these bags perfect for urban commuters, business travelers, and globetrotters.

Where is BÉIS Sold?

You can buy BÉIS travel bags directly from the BÉIS website, but online retailers such as Nordstrom often feature sales and deals on top sellers. Look for deals on BÉIS luggage around holidays, notably during Memorial Day Weekend and Black Friday.

Why Does BÉIS Stand Out? Key Features to Know

1. All-Vegan Leather

We’re all about reducing our carbon footprint and sourcing leather for luggage can be environmentally and ethically questionable. We’re happy about the all-vegan leather used to make these travel bags.

The eco-friendly material is soft but also durable and water-resistant, ensuring your belongings stay safe in any weather.

2. TSA-Friendly

Nobody likes getting hassled in the TSA line, and if you’ve let your Pre-Check or Global Entry expire, you’re even more likely to experience long lines that have been the norm since COVID.

BÉIS luggage is designed to make your travel experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. With TSA locks and plenty of pockets, it is easy to grab your laptop and toiletry bag without rummaging through a loose menagerie of items.

When someone compliments your carry-on, you can say, “Thanks, it has pockets!.” BÉIS bags offer multiple compartments to help you organize your clothing and electronics, plus compression sleeves, separate areas for dirty clothes, and PVC pouches that make for convenient cosmetic cases.

Stay organized in your hotel or VRBO vacation rental without unpacking your whole suitcase whenever you need to find something.

4. 360 Degree Spinner Wheels with Silent Run

Each BÉIS bag has 360-degree spinner wheels, making it easy to maneuver in any direction. This smooth-rolling feature makes changing terminals or navigating busy airports a breeze. The multi-directional wheels make moving your bag around any corner easier.

Not only that, you’ll love the silent run wheels, which, if you get a satisfying feeling about how a suitcase rolls through the airport, you’ll love this feature.

5. Excellent Customer Service

Anyone can make a good suitcase, but BÉIS stands out for its fantastic customer service. They have a team of friendly representatives available to answer your questions and help you with any concerns. They provide helpful information about their products and can even help with returns or exchanges.

BÉIS Limited Lifetime Warranty

BÉIS offers a limited lifetime warranty on all its bags, protecting you from manufacturing defects. While this warranty helps provide peace of mind and ensures you can enjoy your bag for years, it comes with certain stipulations worth noting.

The BÉIS Limited Warranty covers certain polycarbonate luggage products for cracks, breaks, unusable wheels or handles, broken zippers, and fabric defects for the reasonable lifetime of the materials. In case of a valid claim, BÉIS offers repair or replacement, although the replacement may differ in specifics.

However, it does not cover luggage used for commercial or unusual purposes, second-hand items, damage from misuse or neglect, cosmetic damage, or fabric rips due to normal wear and tear.

To claim the warranty, contact their customer service with relevant details and await approval before shipping your item. If accepted, they’ll repair or replace the luggage within 60 days and return it to you free of charge. If not, your item will be returned at your own cost.

The warranty may change, but the one applicable will be in effect at the time of purchase. Be aware of its limitations and exclusions to ensure it meets your usage needs.

Where is BÉIS luggage made?

BÉIS luggage is designed in Los Angeles, California, under the supervision of its co-founder, actress Shay Mitchell. After receiving the products, it was determined that they were manufactured in China.

BÉIS Return Policy

From a recent purchaser’s perspective, I discovered that most products from BÉIS have a pretty fair return or exchange policy, in effect since September 26, 2022. If I decide to exchange what I bought, they’ll handle the shipping and handling fees, which is a relief. They may charge a $10 handling fee if I opt for a return. The refund would be issued either through the original payment method or as store credit.

Something else to remember: if you purchase through one of BÉIS’s retail partners, like Revolve.com, ULTA, Nordstrom, you’d have to stick with their specific return policies. In that case, the next step would be to reach out to the retailer’s customer support team with the original dated receipt.

BÉIS Alternatives

BÉIS travel products have a unique selling point that started immediately with the best-selling Weekender and Tote. The minimalist design is similar to others in the market, such as Away Travel and Monos. Here are each of the differences between the brands as a comparison.

Away Travel vs. BÉIS

Black Away Bigger Carry-On Luggage

When considering Away Travel, the brand has earned a reputation for its high-quality hard-shell luggage, celebrated for its resilience and sleek design. Away’s distinct feature of a removable battery pack offers tech-savvy travelers an edge by ensuring their devices stay charged.

On the other hand, BÉIS steps ahead in terms of variety and flexibility. Their collection is broader, with soft-shell options like the Weekender and Tote, providing a practical choice for those who prefer versatility over rigid structure. BÉIS also offers a more diverse color palette and patterns, allowing travelers to express their style.

Monos vs. BÉIS

Monos Hybrid Carry-On

Monos, similar to Away, focuses on minimalist hard-shell suitcases known for their clean aesthetics and build quality. They are also celebrated for their silent, multi-directional wheels, ensuring smoother and quieter navigation.

BÉIS’s emphasis on accessibility and organization, with features like removable shoulder straps and multiple compartments, offers an advantage to those who value ease of use and organization. Furthermore, the affordability of BÉIS’s product line without compromising quality is a significant draw for cost-conscious travelers who still seek stylish and durable travel gear.
