Höchstadt Castle

The Höchstadt Castle is a historical building in Hochstadt, Danube, in Germany. It dates back to the late Renaissance periods. The castle’s construction began in the late 1500s and was completed in the early 1600s.

When Philipp Ludwig died, his wife, Ana von Julich-We’ve-Berg, occupied the castle as her widow’s seat from 1615 until 1632. Later, the castle was used as a district court where matters were settled, and a few rooms were made into prisons.
The castle did lose many of its furnishings in one way or the other: either to theft of illegal movements. However, in the 1980s, the Bavaria Palace ad Lake Administration began to recover those furnishings and restore the old look of the Castle.
They succeeded in this attempt, except that it was just one room in all of the rooms the castle had that hasn’t yet been completely restored up till now. Today, the rooms of the castle serve as event halls.
